Disappointing night for Team 48

Flamborough, ON – The second race of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup (L.O.S.C.) series at Flamboro Speedway was a tough one for the #48 Cathcart Mechanical Performance Pontiac Grand Prix.

Over 450 fans filled the seats of Flamboro Speedway grandstands to watch the L.O.S.C.’s second race of the season.  After three solid 10-lap practice sessions the #48 car took to the track for qualifying.  A lap time of 16:691 seconds put the #48 car 7th on the grid to start the 100 lap MS Society 100.

Doug Cathcart Owner/Driver of the #48 held his seventh place position through the first 54 laps of the race when first caution of the night moved the car to 6th place.  After the second caution at lap 56, Cathcart restarted fourth in the lineup.  Unfortunately, contact with the wall between turns two and three resulted in a broken fuel pump, ending the #48’s night after 60 laps.

“While the night didn’t turn out as we had hoped, the #48 car was solid and we were making ground”, Cathcart remarked.  “The car’s performance throughout the first 60 laps combined with our fifth place finish at Sauble tells me we are making headway with the car.  The season is early and we have five more races to go.  I’m looking forward to fixing up the car and returning to Flamboro Speedway to show race fans what this car can really do”.

Saturday, July 18th, 2015 the series returns to Flamboro Speedway for the Fuel for Kids 100.
