Cathcart’s seventh place finish keeps him in the top five!

Posted: September 5, 2014

Millgrove, ON – Race number six for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup (L.O.S.C.) series sponsored by Meineke was a return to Flamboro Speedway for the third of six races at this third of a mile track.  Despite a drizzly day, fans filled the stands for another L.O.S.C. spectacular race.

After tech inspection, the Cathcart Mechanical Performance sponsored #48 headed out to the track for a series of three practice rounds.  The small adjustments made during the practice sessions found the #48 getting faster with each lap.  During practice session two, Owner/Driver Doug Cathcart clocked his best personal lap time at Flamboro Speedway: 16:76 seconds.

During time trails the #48 car got loose in turn 4 and although Cathcart was able to collect the car, his qualifying time placed him 15th to start the 100 lap L.O.S.C. feature.

Once again this was an evening of few cautions, with the first caution of the night occurring on lap 60.  It was a fairly uneventful race, with Cathcart skillfully driving from fifteenth to a seventh place finish.

“Each race is a learning experience”, said Cathcart.  “The adjustments we made to the racecar throughout the practice sessions had the car responding as expected.  It was another solid, clean and steady race and we’re pleased with our seventh place finish.  We’re still among the top 5 in overall points and look forward to the two remaining races.”

Race number seven for the L.O.S.C. cars will be held on Friday, September 19th at Delaware Speedway in London, Ontario.  Pit gates open at 2:00 PM (grandstands at 5:00 PM) and racing starts at 6:00 PM.

See you at the track!
