A top 5 finish for Team 48!

Posted: 16 June 2014

Sauble Falls, ON – The first race of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup (L.O.S.C.) series at Sauble Speedway was an exciting kick off to the 2014 season!  The ‘Fuel for Kids 100’ feature race held fans on the edge of their seats from green to checkered flag.

The Cathcart Mechanical Performance 48 Pontiac Grand Prix captured a solid fifth place finish.  The day held its share of ‘gremlins’, forcing the crew to work out a number of minor technical issues.

“With all the changes we’ve made over the winter, it’s like driving a completely new car,” said Doug Cathcart, Owner/Driver of the #48 Pontiac Grand Prix.  “We were confident that a top 10 finish was well within our grasp and a fifth place finish in Sauble shows that the changes we’ve made to the #48 are moving us in the right direction.”

Well over 250 fans filled the seats of the Sauble Speedway grandstands to watch the L.O.S.C. commence its seventh season.  After each of three practice sessions the #48 crew made a number of adjustments to enhance the performance of the Pontiac Grand Prix.  The car started in 12th and finished 5th – a gain of seven positions – resulting in Cathcart being awarded ‘Hard Charger’.

“It takes a solid team to secure a top 5 finish, and we’ve got a great one”, Cathcart said of the small but mighty crew.  “Team 48 has set the pace for a stellar racing season!  We’re looking forward to the next race and can’t wait to put on another great show for race fans.”

Saturday, June 28th the series heads to Flamboro, ON for the first of four season races at Flamboro Speedway.  Pit gates open at 3 PM and racing starts at 6 PM.
